Dog Training

About me

I have owned dogs all of my life and have competed at high level in agility for over a decade with my border collies, Jack, Niko and Luca. I now train and compete in Hoopers. I want to be the best trainer/dog handler possible so I have studied and passed level 3 and 4 courses in canine behaviour and am currently studying to become an instructor for the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT).

About Hoopers

Hoopers is a new, fun, fast, low-impact dog sport. It uses low impact obstacles, flowing lines and is suitable for all dogs and handlers. Large and tiny breeds, dogs which require a little extra space and handlers with limited mobility, can all do Hoopers. It's a fun sport that you and your dog enjoy together. It's physically and mentally enriching for your dog and builds a strong bond between you. Look how much fun my Niko is having in the photo below. Check out the video below to see us both having fun.

I am an accredited Advanced Canine Hoopers UK Instructor, a qualification which has been approved by the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers. I have achieved level 4 in-Canine Behaviour – Consultations, Foundations and Function of Behaviour, a course ran by the IMDT which is accredited by the Open College Network. I use only force free, modern training techniques. I teach Hoopers workshops, classes and 121s in the Durham area (https://durhamdogs.co.uk/).
